NOTE: Design Choices
Before you make your decision to order a FamBed Family Bed, itās important to be aware of a few of our design choices that make a FamBed the optimal co-sleeping bed.
Some of these design choices may, however, go against some personal preferences regarding mattress firmness, bed height, etc., which might mean a FamBed is not the obvious choice for you.

Mattress Topper in Natural Latex - not Memory Foam
In every aspect of our bed design, we have aimed for āvalue for moneyā, but the mattress topper is simply one area where you shouldnāt cut corners.
The mattress topper sets the bar for much of the comfort and is the layer closest to you and your familyās skin.
We have chosen to make the core of our mattress topper from 100% natural latex. This is a more expensive material than, for example, Memory Foam and other alternatives, and we could have created a MUCH cheaper product using Memory Foam.
... BUT - we and many bed experts believe that latex is a superior material compared to Memory Foam for use in beds and mattress toppers.
The choice of natural latex is therefore based on a number of factual advantages of the material, especially in relation to safe and comfortable co-sleeping, despite the material having a higher price than the alternatives.
Here is a brief summary of some of the main advantages and disadvantages of Natural Latex vs Memory Foam:
- Natural latex is an antibacterial and natural material, unlike Memory Foam, which can bring a range of undesirable properties, including chemicals, moisture retention, permanent and semi-permanent shaping, etc.
- Natural latex provides āprogressiveā support that temporarily moulds to your body but pushes back and quickly returns to its original shape, unlike Memory Foam, which is not recommended for safe co-sleeping as it creates semi-permanent and sometimes permanent indentations in the sleeping surface.
Mattresses with medium/firm progressive support
The standard mattress included with our FamBed Family Bed has a medium and a firm side, which means the mattress generally covers +95% of all peopleās preferences and recommendations for firmness.
Choosing how soft or firm you want to sleep is definitely a matter of personal preference and adjustment. However, most research points to the fact that sleeping too softly is neither natural nor healthy.
Furthermore, when it comes to co-sleeping and bed sharing, there are also safety aspects to not sleeping too softly. Our reversible "dual-comfort" mattresses have medium-firm progressive support and safe co-sleeping without indentations in the sleeping surface.
A FamBed moulds to your body and supports where it should, but quickly returns to its original shape thanks to the choice of a natural latex core in the mattress topper and the reversible spring mattress with two different firmness levels: a medium comfort side and a firm comfort side, where the firm side is recommended, while the medium can be used if you prefer a slightly softer bed.
If you want a soft/medium (not recommended) or a firm/extra firm mattress (recommended for people over 100 kg) instead, please contact us after your order.
Alternatively, we are happy to exchange after delivery for a small shipping fee, so you can be 100% sure to achieve a satisfactory result.
Slightly lower than many other beds
A common misconception, due to marketing in the bed industry, is that a higher bed equals a better bed, but this is not the case.
It may look more luxurious with many layers, but it actually just causes unnecessary material waste and additional production complexity, which you as a customer pay for, but which you cannot feel in the comfort. FamBed is made with comfort, price and safety as top priorities.
Since extra height does not provide more comfort, and high beds are primarily for older people who have difficulty getting in and out of bed, we have chosen to design our bed with a lower total height, making it possible for small children to independently learn to climb in and out of bed without getting hurt.
Additionally, it is a way to offer an affordable bed to a price-sensitive target group (parents of young children who have plenty of other expenses), without compromising on comfort or safety.
A low height also prevents the worst injuries if someone should roll off the edge.
Modular design
FamBed Family Beds are modularly designed and therefore consist of a large bed base made up of several mattresses/frames. This is necessary to enable production, transport and carrying of such large beds.
... BUT - we guarantee you wonāt feel the joints in the bed, and although the assembled bed base can be seen as a weakness in our design, you can also see it as a huge strength, as it brings a number of advantages:
- The fact that our design is modular means you can gradually expand or reduce your bed as children arrive or move to their own rooms. All it requires is new covers for the beds, which can then be separated, where one part becomes a āJunior Bedā and the other remains an adult bed for mum and dad.
- The bed having divisions (not noticeable) means movement is not transferred to the other sleepers to the same extent, making it optimal for co-sleeping, especially if you have restless sleepers in the family, as it can reduce how much it affects othersā sleep quality.
- If a part of the bed is unexpectedly damaged, it is easy and more sustainable to replace individual mattresses or frames rather than having to replace the entire bed.
- In practice, a large continuous frame and huge mattresses would not be possible to get into most homes, not to mention the shipping costs such large beds would incur.
Terms and Conditions
Our FAMBEDĀ® 60-Day Sleep Guarantee is an extended service we as a company choose to offer our customers who purchase a Family Bed, quite exceptionally, despite the fact that according to EU legislation we are not obliged to offer returns, as our beds are produced specifically for you according to your measurements and order.
However, we know that buying a new bed is a big and important decision that affects the whole familyās sleep, and therefore we have also chosen to make returns possible under certain conditions:
- Try for at least 30 days – It always takes some time to get used to a new bed and sleeping situation. Therefore, we require that you use the bed for at least 30 days and give yourself a chance to adjust before deciding to return it.
- The handling and costs of the return shipment are your responsibility. We are happy to refer you to our reliable shipping partner, who offers reasonable prices for returns, but the responsibility for getting the product back to us lies with you as the customer, both practically and financially.
- When returning (the bed including mattress topper and fitted sheets), a recycling fee applies. We normally do not accept returns on fitted sheets and mattress toppers, as these are made to special measurements. With our 60-day sleep guarantee on the Family Bed, we make an exception when you buy a family bed: If you have purchased a mattress topper and fitted sheets together with the bed, we can also accept them back along with the bed.
Since textiles and the mattress topper core cannot be reused in our own production, we send them for recycling through other clothing/furniture productions. This involves handling and depreciation of materials, and therefore we deduct a fixed recycling fee of 2,000 DKK if fitted sheets and mattress topper are returned with the bed.
Alternatively, you can keep the mattress topper and fitted sheets to make your own DIY family bed without gaps in the sleeping surface, sell them second hand or use them in other ways. In that case, only the bed will be refunded without applying the recycling fee.
